They should have tacked on a piece about finding these dogs homes. This was a terrible industry to begin with and needs to end. But it’s probably true that race dogs owners would euthanize them. I’m sure many wouldn’t pay for the gas to drive them to a shelter.

Sometimes trying to improve things actually exacerbates them.
When an amendment to ban dog racing in Florida was passed on 6 November, animal lovers and rights activists celebrated it.
However, Greyhound adoption groups have told the BBC that they now fear that the ban could lead to the killing of thousands of dogs as it comes into force.
Animal rights groups fiercely contest the claim and call it “fear-mongering” by racing industry-related groups.
