PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers expect the team to report next week to Le’Veon Bell, President Art Rooney II said on Sirius XM radio on Thursday.
Bell, who has missed 10 weeks without signing a $14.5 million franchise tag, must report by Tuesday or forfeit the 2018 season. Officially, he has lost $8.52 million in earnings in the weeks he has missed.
“I don’t know what his plans are, but I’d say we’re expecting him to come back next week,” said Rooney. “We know he’s back in Pittsburgh, so we’re looking forward to communicating with him over the weekend.
This week, Bell returned to the city and a L.A. fitness manager in northern Pittsburgh confirmed to ESPN that Bell played basketball at the facility on Tuesday night.
