Updated to reflect a freeze watch extended to Dallas-Fort Worth at 9 a.m. on Friday.

The freeze watch includes the counties of Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton, and others north and west of the region of Dallas-Fort Worth.

Meteorologist Grant Johnston, KXAS-TV (NBC5), said that colder temperatures are the result of “Canadian air digging in the United States.”

“We’re going to get the first surge on Friday and Saturday,” he said.
